It was a great day for Boomer Bloodstock with two graduates saluting at Santa Anita, both for trainer Phil D’Amato. It was the old warrior Abbey Vale [IRE] who was first on the board with the European gelding producing a long sustained run on the turf under a confident Tiago Pereira ride to score by a length. Abbey Vale was purchased by Boomer at the Tattersalls Horses In-Training Sale for £40,000, with the win taking his earnings over $150,000.
Later in the day three year old filly Magical Lucy produced an impressive performance to win on debut. The filly who Boomer purchased for $75,000 at the OBS April Sale was all heart under apprentice Austin Solis to score by a head in a hard fight all the way to the wire in the 5 ½ furlong event on the dirt providing another win for successful owners Joe Scardino & Tony Fanticola.
