Trainer Lindsey Smith and Boomer Bloodstock are forging a formidable partnership over the past couple of years headed by recent Gr.1 winner Scales of Justice. The team enjoyed more success on Sunday with two three year old’s winning impressively in WA.
Three year old filly Paris Texas (Hinchinbrook) was first up from a spell and despite settling near the rear of the field, showed an explosive turn of foot to win by almost two lengths in the unsuitable 1,000m event. Smith believes the filly has definite Stakes potential as she steps up in distance. The win took her record to two wins, and two placings from seven starts while being unlucky not to have recorded black type last preparation finishing a close 4th in the Listed Placid Ark Stakes. The filly was purchased by Boomer at the 2015 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale for $60,000 for successful clients Tony Patrizi and Chris Wells.
Later in the day another three year old gelding Prize Catch (Zoffany) showed his determination to dig in for a tough win under leading hoop William Pike. The flashy chestnut who is a half brother to the multiple Stakes Winner Hurdy Gurdy Man, was on his game and didn’t disappoint his large contingent of owners for the Belhus Racing Syndicate. Prize Catch was purchased by Boomer at the 2015 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale for $42,000 with the win taking his record to two wins and four placings from eleven starts.
