Scales of Justice all heart in Gr.3 win

The best horse in the West, Scales of Justice, showed the heart of a lion to pull out all stops to claim victory in the Gr.3 Strickland Stakes at Belmont Park.  The 4yo bay gelding by Not A Single Doubt was stepping up to 2000m for the first time and following a deluge of rain had to also contend with an unsuitable soft surface but as good horses do he overcame it all to post a gutsy win for his trainer Lindsey Smith and owners Chris Wells & Bill Andrews.  Scales of Justice was purchased by Boomer for $180,000 from Inglis Melbourne Yearling Sale and the win took his record to 17 starts for 9 wins, 7 seconds and a third and $1,357,450 in earnings.

He will now go for a spell ahead of the Spring.
