Lady Who breaks her maiden in style
12th November 2011 Gold Coast, Australia
3yo Commands filly Lady Who broke her maiden in style today on the Gold Coast over 1400m against males and older horses. Backing up a week after finishing 2nd over the same distance, Lady Who jumped well from barrier 8 in the 15 horse field and was caught in an early speed duel for the first 400m of the race before jockey Emily Kehoe pushed hard and the filly strode to the lead. Kehoe was able to give her a mid race breather before the challenges pressed her in the straight although Lady Who found another gear and kicked clear to put the result beyond doubt.
Trainer John Morrisey said that the filly has good ability and will improve as she matures and steps up in distance. Boomer Bloodstock’s Craig Rounsefell who was in Kentucky at the Keeneland Breeding Stock Sale reported that following her two starts as a 2yo Lady Who was sent to the paddock at Misty Downs where she did an absolute treat and was switched trainers for her 3yo campaign. “We have high hopes for her”, Rounsefell said.
Lady Who is a well bred filly by Commands and is the first foal out of the Gr.3 placed mare Another Time by Gilded Time and was purchased by Boomer Bloodstock at the 2010 Magic Millions January Yearling Sale.
